Hello! I'm Sammy – and for me it's "The world instead of the classroom!"
So… just imagine: I'm almost seven years old – and my parents have decided that I won’t be going to school anymore. Not because they don’t like letters or numbers (they actually like them a lot), but because they had a totally crazy idea: We’re going on a trip around the world!
With real ships! Like, really real ones! Not cardboard boxes in the bathtub, but actual ones that sail – across the sea!
We’ll travel through Europe, sail to America, scurry through Asia, chug along to Australia, and search for wild animals in Africa (hopefully not the kind that want to eat me). We’ll cross the huge Atlantic Ocean (I’m taking at least five floaties with me), crack the International Date Line in the middle of the Pacific (suddenly it’s yesterday again – like, Wednesday comes after Wednesday – totally crazy!) and even sail around Cape Agulhas – that’s at the very bottom of Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans have their stormy arguments.
And here’s the best part: My school actually said, “Yes, go for it!” They think it’s awesome – and so do I! I get to learn on the road. With real coconuts instead of school milk, jungle sounds instead of the recess bell, and my mom and dad as teachers (who secretly have to peek at the answers sometimes).
I’m super excited! For foreign countries, new friends, crazy animals, weird food (maybe bugs – eww!), and a new adventure every single day.
And you know what? School on a ship is like doing math on a trampoline: a little wobbly – but way more fun.
But one thing I know for sure: I’m going to miss my old friends a whole lot.
